Shower pan leaks leaky shower floor if your water leak is coming from your shower floor then it may be obvious already you have a broken shower pan.
Wear and tear and dislocation are the main causes of a leaky shower pan.
Water can also seep past strainers that aren t properly connected to the drain and in.
Depending on which floor this shower is located you might see water or water marks on a ceiling or when you look in the basement or crawl space.
If you find some you re in for a new shower pan or shower floor to stop the leak.
The idea is to use the process of elimination and keep looking for any evidence of a leak each step of the way.
Call a plumber to inspect or fix it for you as soon as possible to prevent rot odors and high costs of repair.
Check for cracks even very fine ones anywhere on the pan.
If it happens that your shower or bathtub is located above your garage you can cut costs by having the plumber cut the ceiling under those pipes and replacing it with a removable door.
Then run the shower as normal.
The water can run outside of the shower door area onto the floor of the bathroom and leak between the shower and the floor area.
Once done with the shower check the towel for any water.
Place a dry towel just outside the door.
Door frames often leak as well.
If the leak continues even after the shower is off then the leak is probably coming from a water pipe.
A leaking shower pan is a serious problem that can result in dumping water into the floor and foundation of the house.
This is a very common issue with tubs.
